We all know just how important sleep is to every a

We all know just how important sleep is to every aspect of our health. However, sometimes, it's the first thing to get neglected or become more difficult when life gets crazy. 🤪

@adashofdanardn here, sleep is not something to skimp on, especially when it comes to athletic performance. Getting quality sleep allows the body to recover, restore tissues, and fight off illness, and is a key part of mood and cognitive function. All of which we need to prevent injury, improve recovery, and perform our best!

Now, saying "just get more sleep" is much easier said than done. So, instead, I'm here to share a few tips to help you improve your sleep!

🛏️ Limit naps avoid naps after 3 pm if you can, and limit them to 1 hour or less.

🍷 Avoid alcohol 3 hours before bed can negatively impact your deep phase of sleep, which is important for recovery.

☕ Avoid caffeine after noon if you're caffeine sensitive caffeine can stay in your system for up to 8 hours, which can impact sleep.

🏃 Limit high-intensity training sessions too early in the am or too late in the pm can offset your sleep schedule/ routine.

🧘 Establish a wind-down routine that helps signal your body it's time to go to bed. Try something relaxing like reading a book, stretching, or taking a bath 30-60 minutes before bed.

💤 Leave your sleep environment if you can't fall asleep after 20 minutes of trying to go to another room and do a relaxing activity.

🚫 Limit electronics to 1 hour before bed if you need to use electronics before bed. Consider using night mod or blue light glasses.

😴 Create a relaxing, cool, and dark sleep environment - try black-out curtains, create a room temp that feels good to you, get cozy sheets, etc.

Give your body the rest it needs and make sleep a priority!!
